I'M IN SENEGAL!

so, due to semi-popular demand, i started a blog. i don't know who will read this or who will care but i do know that i am at work right now and i'm meant to be working on this report about an event in Somalia.

So far the most exciting things that have happened haven't had to do with work at all.
They include:
-my flight from Geneva being delayed, missing the Lisbon-Dakar flight, and spending a night and day in Lisbon, Portugal.
-dealing with a good 15 cockroaches in my room last night, including one which hid in my suitcase inside my bra
-passing the Senegalese Horse Protection Society office. this is a little hilarious because Senegal is full of really skinny horses looking rather unhappy and pulling carts.
-telling a taxi driver to turn left after the cow. just think about that momentarily.
-my shoe breaking on the walk to the pool, getting a taxi, and finding out that we'd been walking the wrong way all along so the shoe breaking was finally quite an omen.

okay. i'm going to get back to work, but I'll write again soon with more fascinating news about all of these and more. If you want to know about my work: google Tostan.

oh, the power just went out. that happens on average like, 10 times an hour. which isn't really that big a deal at home (yay generator) but it sucks when you're trying to have a skype conversation or something, because of course that means the internet dies too...
